We thought it would be a great idea to let you get to know us a little in our first post. Unfortunately, it took us way longer than we thought to make a list of 100 things. But here it is! Welcome to our blog, (insert your name here)! And here we are...
1.) We didn’t grow up together although we have several acquaintances in common and went to high schools less than 4 miles apart.
2.) We met in June of 2005.
3.) Brigitte met David first and takes credit for bringing us together.
4.) We both played soccer growing up.
5.) David played 15 years for Santa Rosa United, California State Team, Western Regional Team, Montgomery High School, UC San Diego, and on Friday nights with the Jr. Highers.
6.) Heidi played a couple years as a little girl who enjoyed twirling around on the field and picking flowers and warmed the bench freshman year of high school.
7.) We work with the Jr. High group at our church.
8.) David is the Jr. High Pastor.
9.) Last week one of the Jr. Highers told us we act like kids.
10.) That is why we work with Jr. Highers
11.) David likes Christian rap.
12.) Heidi likes Josh Groban, Enya, and Jonny Lang.
13.) We are both learning to enjoy (or tolerate) each other’s music.
14.) David is almost 7 months older than Heidi.
15.) We got married 1 year, 2 months after meeting.
16.) We got engaged 8 months after starting to date.
17.) David asked Heidi’s parents’ approval to propose 3 months prior.
18.) We are exactly the same height. Any guesses?
19.) Five feet, nine inches
20.) We like sushi, good sushi.
21.) David has 2 sisters. Heidi has one.
22.) David has 3 brothers. Heidi has none.
23.) We honeymooned in Puerto Vallarta.
24.) David speaks a little Spanish.
25.) Heidi speaks a little German.
26.) David has his bus driver’s license.
27.) Heidi has a B.A. in communications.
28.) We are the wrinkliest couple we know because of all the weird faces we make.
29.) We met at the church’s college group.
30.) Heidi’s parents were going to name her David if she was a boy.
31.) David’s parents were going to name him Jodi if he was a girl.
32.) David’s parents ended up naming their toy poodle Jodi.
33.) David means “beloved of God.”
34.) Heidi means “noble” or “German battle maiden.”
35.) David received a guitar for Christmas of 2005.
36.) David has not yet learned to play the guitar.
37.) We have added several made-up words to our vocabularies since meeting each other.
38.) When we are joking about being upset, we say we are “flurious”: flurry + furious= flurious
39.) When we were engaged, David called Heidi his “financier”.
40.) I (Heidi) just looked “financier” up at dictionary.com and found out it is a real word. David just told me he knew it was a real word. I guess I’ll scratch that off the made-up word list…
41.) David’s transmission died a couple months ago.
42.) A few weeks later David bought a dark green ’92 BMW Touring Wagon (not to be called a “station wagon”) from one of Heidi’s dad’s friends.
43.) Heidi loves animals of all shapes and sizes and desperately wants a cat.
44.) David convinced Heidi that it was okay to take starfish from the beach to dry out for bathroom decorations.
45.) Heidi and David later found out it is illegal.
46.) Heidi feels like a murderer every time she sees them.
47.) Yesterday David drank 8.8 liters of water.
48.) David’s full name has 6 syllables.
49.) Heidi’s full married name has 5 syllables. It used to have 6.
50.) Her full married name (1st, middle, & last) has the same amount of letters as her maiden last name- 11.
51.) Heidi's Starbucks drink of choice is a Soy Chai Latte with no water although she also likes White Chocolate Mochas and Zebra Mochas on occasion.
52.) David's Starbucks drink of choice is water. A lot of water.
53.) Our Johnny's Java drink of choice is the Peppermint Mocha- delicious!
54.) Heidi has a hard time narrowing down her favorites to one, so she has multiple favorites of everything
55.) Heidi's hair has been brown, light blond, dirty blond, red, pink (Kool-Aid streaks for a couple days at camp in high school) and strawberry blond at different times between high school and now
56.) David's hair has been black, dirty blonde, long, gone, and mohawked.
57.) We both have naturally wavy hair and are hoping for a bunch of curly-haired little kids someday.
58.) If Heidi ever got a tattoo, it would be of a dove on the inside of her left foot.
59.) If David ever got a tattoo, it would be of the Star of David on his side.
60.) We were considering getting tattoos on our honeymoon in Mexico, but wisely decided not to do it spur of the moment in another country.
61.) Heidi broke her elbow at the beginning of December while playing broom hockey on an ice rink when a Jr. High boy took her out from behind. It was her first broken bone and it is healed now.
62.) Fuji water and swedish fish, kittens and sweat pants, day trips and 70-degree days, monkeys the size of your hand, cute little towns and David are a few of Heidi's favorite things.
63.) Burritos, hot sauce, soccer balls, bed, water and Heidi are a few of David's favorite things.
64.) Our favorite gadget is our iPod Wifi speaker we received for our wedding.
65.) David desperately wants an Apple laptop.
66.) Friday was David's 24th birthday, so if you're feeling generous- get him one for a late birthday present : )
67.) Heidi went to The Master’s College for 3 and a half years- then finished a few classes at the Santa Rosa J.C. her last semester in college.
68.) David went to U.C.S.D. for 2 years- then didn’t finish anything at Sonoma State in his last semester in college.
69.) We both had horrible garlic breath yesterday and garlic was seeping out of our pores from going to The Stinking Rose in San Francisco for dinner on Monday- their motto: “We season our garlic with food”
70.) The most ridiculous job Heidi has ever had was working the kiddie train in the mall over Christmas break in high school.
71.) The most ridiculous job David has ever had was working at The Buckle in the Santa Rosa Plaza the Summer between UCSD and SSU.
72.) Heidi checks Craigslist nearly every day hoping to find some amazing freebies or treasure.
73.) So far we have bought a little wooden rocking chair from Craigslist that we thought was larger from the photo.
74.) Heidi bought a light pink antique couch with her tax return 2 1/2 years ago.
75.) David bought a $1400 foosball table with money he could have spent on a car 2 years ago.
76.) Heidi’s sister, Brigitte, and her boyfriend, Bob-ert, stole our anniversary when they decided they were an official couple at our wedding- but we love them anyway!
77.) We got married on David’s dad’s birthday.
78.) We wanted to sing happy birthday to him and put candles on his piece of wedding cake, but forgot in the midst of the 2nd reception horror.
79.) Do yourself a favor, and never associate with DJ Brad.
80.) When Heidi was little, she wanted to be a writer or veterinarian when she grew up.
81.) When David was little, he wanted to be a pro soccer player when he grew up.
82.) Heidi has worn glasses since 6th grade- contacts since 7th grade. David has 20/20 vision.
83.) < We were both born in 1983.
84.) We just moved into a house that was built in 1908.
85.) The coolest things about the house are the old details, the location, and the backyard.
86.) The craziest things about the house are the flickering lights and the abundance of doors everywhere.
87.) The bummer things about the house are the lack of a big shower and the noise from the street- especially in the middle of the night.
88.) Heidi’s hidden talents are cooking gourmet cupcakes, writing, cleaning a mile a minute, and doing weird double-jointed things.
89.) David’s hidden talents are rhyming, playing soccer, cooking wonderful breakfasts and grilled things, and teaching.
90.) If we could leave tomorrow and go on a vacation anywhere in the world for 2 weeks, we would go to Hawaii and island hop.
91.) Neither of us wear perfume/cologne: David’s scent of choice is deodorant/soap and Heidi’s scent of choice is Palmer’s Cocoa Butter lotion.
92.) Heidi is afraid of heights and despises flying.
93.) David wants to go skydiving.
94.) Heidi’s first car was a ’79 brown Camaro.
95.) David’s first car was a truck- a 1994 Ford Ranger.
96.) Heidi really wants a cat- everyone else is having babies, so she wants a baby cat.
97.) We want dogs someday. Heidi says we want a big one and a little one. David doesn’t remember that conversation.
98.) We want to travel to places we have never been and places that we enjoy- like Disneyland!
99.) We love being married. : )
100.) It took us 2 months to finish this list. We will never do one again. God bless you if you read it.
