Cotton Candy Has Never Sounded So Dangerous

The youth group is having a Harvest Party on Wednesday. David and I came up with the clever theme of "Alliterations". We've been brainstorming alliteration costumes and snacks for a few weeks now and I had decided that I was going to be cotton candy. I was planning on either sticking a bunch of pillow stuffing to my clothing and painting it pink or maybe sticking pink cotton balls on my clothes... you get the idea. I thought this was a great idea until I watched this video:

For those of you who are too lazy or busy to watch it, here's the gist: a college guy dressed up as a sheep for a Halloween party. He made his costume out of cotton balls. Someone caught his costume on fire and he now has burn scars over 40% of his body. No thank you. I wonder if I would make a convincing Mr. Magoo...

Petaluma Past

I miss our beautiful Petaluma house- sort of. I don't miss the wood floors- I know wood floors are supposed to be fabulous, but I think carpet makes a home more cozy. I don't miss the sounds of Petaluma Blvd. at 2 in the morning- the drunkards, the teens making trouble, and all the other crazies. I don't miss the dust bunnies hiding under every piece of furniture - although now we have spider webs in every corner. I do miss the antique charm. I miss the china cabinet built in the wall. I miss the wood shelving lining the front rooms. I miss the fireplace we never used. And I even miss the checkerboard kitchen floor. Now that we are out of our Petaluma home, I feel like I can post pics without any stalkers coming to find us. Seriously. Our address was posted on the church website and fliers everywhere, so it's not like I wanted to put the floorplan of the house on our blog. So for those of you who never visited, here are pics of the place we don't live in anymore:

2007 Summer Vacation

Our Ship: Monarch of the Seas

Day 1: Sailing

David at the door of our stateroom
Heading to Dinner

Day 2: San Diego

On the double-decker bus headed for the Gaslamp District to SHOP

David as the stereotypical foreign tourist. We were the only two on the top on our ride back to the ship and had fun yelling, "Peace! Freedom! We love America!" with accents- use your imagination. Probably my favorite part of the ride.

Formal night: A photo of the photo one of the ship photographers took of us. We just didn't feel like paying the $17 for it. Sue us. I suppose they could...

Day 3: Catalina Island

On the tender between the ship and Catalina- one of our only non-arm-length photos from the trip. We were brave enough to ask the foreigners across from us to take the photo.

Day 4: Ensanada

We got off the ship, walked a few blocks, walked in and out of 3 stores, then got right back on the bus to return to the ship. We have zero pics from filthy Ensanada... but here are pics of our evening on the ship.

Us wasting money on Bingo

Our pet towel monkey named Terry

Day 5: Return to L.A.

The rest of the days: Visiting Relatives in SoCal
Unfortunately we didn't even think about taking pics of or with all/any of the Ower relatives we visited. Definitely regret that- but here is a pic of us during the relative-visiting.

Last Day of 23

Tomorrow is my birthday. I am turning the big 3-0. Okay, now raise your hand if your thoughts sounded like this. "Wow. She's 30 already? I thought she was younger but I guess I can see it." All of you hand-raisers, leave this blog and never come back. Actually, I'm hoping that no one thought that. No, I am not turning 30 quite yet. I will be the ripe old age of 24. I am going to party it up tonight- my last night as a 23-year old. David and I will probably watch an episode or two of The Office, drink so much water that we get water bellies and go to bed before midnight. That's how we do. I am not posting to get any "Happy birthday!" responses from you people, but I just wanted to show you what is in our fridge right now. Tomorrow David and I are going to San Francisco to have a picnic lunch, then SHOP, and have SUSHI for dinner. David did picnic shopping today- and look what he got for us to enjoy:

Psych! Yeah, that's a little birthday joke for you. Or maybe it's a birthday joke for me... Either way- I am not allowed to go in the "No Heidi Zone" where I assume the picnic foods reside. I have a cute husband. Well, time to party. Happy last day of 23 to me!

P.S. David is SO a cat person

Cat People?

Note from the Husband: I accept my Wife's feline fanatacism and I myself am also fond of our little creatures, but I feel compelled to inform you all (probably just the Andre fam, or perhaps just Ang) that we are not cat people. Heidi is Cat Woman; I am more like Batman or perhaps the Riddler. As the blog world has been recently bombarded with photos of our cats, we have decided to temporarily refrain from cat posts. In fact, I have revoked Heidi's cat photography privileges so that she isn't tempted to post more kittenophilic images.

Riddle me this, riddle me that- who wants more photos of our cats?

View from the Window

I don't usually let our window shades up in the living room because the windows face the busy main street in Petaluma. People are constantly walking and driving by and can see me sitting in the living room. I had the shades up one evening and was standing in the living room and a man started walking by, then saw me and doubled back to walk by the other way and look at me again. So I don't like having the shades open. Anyway, Yogi has been pretty sick with a cold this past week so I thought he would enjoy looking out the window. I was right. He looked so cute sitting on the windowsill, that I had to take some pictures.

And then when Yogi was done watching all the cars drive by, he stretched out in the sun.
